'The bull is dead!.....Long live the duck!'.....This is probably the only 'all leather' portable backgammon set of solid build quality available in the world (ie. not a soft 'roll up' type or one made of thin leather glued to a wooden deck).  It is entirely hand crafted, hand stitched and represents months of work.  The following items are included:

- Two gaming panels each measuring approximately 45.5cm X 25cm.  It is constructed with natural or non-dyed vegetable tanned bovine leather which has been decorated with deep penetrating permanent inks and stitched with heavy, navy coloured waxed linen thread.  It was hand polished and sealed to ensure it ages gracefully over the generations.  The leather to the outside of the board and the inside of the dice cups is the firmest grade of leather used for soling top quality shoes.  Butt leather is used for the opposite sides which is also firm but a little more tactile to touch. These grades of firm leather cannot be 'box stitched' on any machine.  The golden lines were engraved and filled with flexible metallic leather paint.  The mural images on both external faces will not be used for any other item and the patterns on the playing surfaces are randomly applied so it is a multi-faceted, unique art piece. The surrounding walls are approximately 3.25cm deep around the inside of the open board and 3.5cm outside.  When the case is closed around the removable frame it is 9.25cm deep around the sides.  

- 2 rectangular hand stitched, vegetable tanned leather dice cups coloured to match the board.  They measure 7cm wide, 8.5cm high and 3.75cm deep.

- 30 red and dark grey 36mm high quality natural resin 'Galalith' stones or counters sourced from Greece.

- 4 acrylic 15mm dice in soft purple and green with a 22mm ivory/pearl effect acrylic doubling cube.  Extra free dice of differing colours will also be sent.

This is a truly robust set yet retains the soft, warm tactile feel and colour of quality leather.  It is a solid construction but is more flexible and impact absorbing than a wooden set.  This permits a softer sounding and perhaps smoother gaming action.
